How to make Korean Fried Chicken

Korean Fried Chicken, also known as KFC, is a popular Korean dish that is known for its crispy texture and flavorful sauce. Here is a recipe for making Korean Fried Chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs of chicken wings or drumettes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup water
  • Oil for frying

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika. Gradually stir in the water until a smooth batter is formed.

  2. Dip the chicken wings or drumettes in the batter, making sure they are fully coated.

  3. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F. Fry the chicken in batches for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

  4. To make the sauce, whisk together the gochujang, ketchup, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger in a small bowl.

  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the water and cornstarch until smooth.

  6. Heat the sauce mixture in a small saucepan over medium heat until it comes to a simmer. Whisk in the cornstarch mixture and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.

  7. Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until fully coated. Serve hot and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired. Enjoy!
